The Travelers Companies (TRV) was founded in 1853 and it is currently the second largest property and casualty insurer in the US. Around 87% of its revenues are generated through sales of insurance premiums. Travelers offers insurance services to its customers through three business segments – Business Insurance, Financial, Professional and International Insurance, and Personal Insurance. In 2012, Travelers earned $25.74 billion out of which 53% of its premiums written were from the Business Insurance segment. Travelers earns 96% of its revenues from the US. The company’s revenues rose 1.2% year-over-year in 2012.
